Michael Thompson, 47

Michael Thompson, a 47-year-old black man, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, after being fatally shot weeks earlier in the 1800 block of Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

About 10 a.m. Oct. 9, Long Beach police responded to a call about gunshots, according to a news release. Officers found Thompson with several wounds to his chest.

Thompson was taken to a hospital, where he died of his wounds at 2:29 a.m. Nov. 1, according to coroner's records. 

On Nov. 9, officers arrested Justin White, 27, on suspicion of murder in Thompson's killing, the release said. White was charged Nov. 15 with five felony counts, including  murder, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, and drug possession. 

White is scheduled to return to court Nov. 30 for arraignment.
