Miquel Morales Jr., 25

Miquel Morales Jr., a 25-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, May 28, in the 1200 block of West Grand Avenue in Pomona, according to the Pomona Police Department.

Officers responded to a call of gunshots heard about 3:15 a.m., said Pomona Police Sgt. Duane Leonard.

When authorities arrived, they located Morales next to a garage. He was suffering from several gunshot wounds, Leonard said.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Morales was airlifted to County USC Medical Center, but died when he arrived at the hospital.

During the investigation, detectives learned an unknown person walked up to Morales and shot him.

Morales was a known gang member, Leonard said, and he was the intended target.

No arrests have been made in connection with the killing.
