A story for every victim

Monique Diane Burton, 51

Monique Burton, a 51-year-old black woman, died Tuesday, May 1, in the 100 block of Ellis Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Detectives found Burton's body about 6 p.m. inside the home she shared with her boyfriend. An anonymous caller asked police to check on her.

Burton had sustained “obvious trauma” to her upper body, and investigators suspect her death was the result of a domestic dispute, according to a statement released by the Long Beach Police Department.

Police said she was last seen Monday. Her boyfriend was found at a residence in Compton, the statement said. He was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held at the Long Beach City Jail without bail.

Police are asking anyone with information about the death to contact homicide Dets. Mark McGuire and Greg Krabbe at (562) 570-7244. Anonymous tips may be submitted via text or web by visiting www.tipsoft.com.
