A story for every victim

Monte Russell, 39

Monte Russell, a 39-year-old black man, was fatally shot Friday, Aug. 21, in the 1700 block of East Washington Boulevard in Pasadena, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Around 5:30 p.m., Pasadena police responded to a shooting call near a row of stores. They found Russell lying in the parking lot of the shopping area, a news release said.

He was pronounced dead at 5:39 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives were not able to identify a suspect, and no witnesses came forward with information, Lt. Terysa Rojas said.

“There is definitely a lot of fear surrounding this case,” she said. “A shooting happens in broad daylight and no one saw anything. That’s just not likely.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pasadena Police Department at (622) 744-4241 or Det. Diego Torres at (626) 744-4517.
