Omar Maurice Williams, 18

Omar Maurice Williams, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, May 5, in the 17600 block of South Santa Fe Avenue in Rancho Dominguez, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 4:30 p.m., Williams and Jason Jonathan Pina, 20, were in a sedan going south on South Santa Fe Avenue when a larger vehicle pulled up and a person inside fired a gun, said Lt. Holly Francisco with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The shooting caused the sedan to collide with other vehicles on the street, and a woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Francisco said.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:40 p.m., said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman. Pina was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
