Oscar Rodriguez-Mireles, 33

Oscar Rodriguez-Mireles, a 33-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, May 31 in the 11800 block of Berendo Avenue in Athens, according to law enforcement and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 1 a.m., Rodriguez-Mireles was sitting on the porch of his home when a person walked up and shot him, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Rodrigurez-Mireles then ran in his home and called 911. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:23 a.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.
