Pasadena man sentenced for killing girlfriend who wanted to leave him

A Pasadena man was sentenced Nov. 2 to 19 years to life in state prison for fatally shooting his live-in girlfriend in the head, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

JonJon Crummie, 21, pleaded no contest on Feb. 17, 2017 to one count of second-degree murder for killing 19-year-old Irais Acosta Olvera. He also pleaded to the special allegation that he used a handgun to commit the crime.

Crummie killed Olvera on Feb. 16, 2014 in the bedroom they shared in his parent’s home in Pasadena, prosecutors said. Crummie shot her point blank in the forehead after Acosta said she was leaving him, prosecutors said.
