Paul Douglas Atkinson, 39

Paul Douglas Atkinson, a 39-year-old black man, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, after he was shot days earlier near West 95th and South Figueroa streets in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 29, Atkinson and another man were outside talking with some women when a vehicle pulled up, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri. A person from inside the vehicle began shooting, striking Atkinson, Kouri said.

Atkinson was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:37 a.m. on Nov. 2, according to coroner’s records.

Police do not have a vehicle or a suspect description and are having difficulty getting witnesses to cooperate, Kouri said.
