Perry Young, 47 [Updated]

Perry Young, a 47-year-old black man, was found dead Monday, Aug. 9, near 27th Street and Maple Avenue in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Young, who was homeless, was discovered lying on the sidewalk suffering from several stab wounds, according to coroner's records.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Times has contacted homicide investigators about the case and will provide additional details as soon as information becomes available.

[Updated at 2:04 p.m. Aug. 18: LAPD Det. Leonardo McKenzie, who is handling the investigation, said Young was found by members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department at 11 p.m.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
