Rashei Martinez, 22

Rahsei Martinez, a 22-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Jan. 6 in the 4700 block of 10th Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 6 p.m., Martinez was dropped off on the sidewalk outside a Los Angeles Fire Department station off Coliseum Street and West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

Martinez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:48 p.m., according to coroner’s records. A preliminary investigation revealed that Martinez was shot in the 4700 block of 10th Avenue minutes before the drop-off.

Police believe that Martinez may have initiated the shooting and was struck by retaliatory gunfire.
