Ricardo Cruz Cruz-Mendoza, 43

Ricardo Cruz-Mendoza, a 43-year-old Latino, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, after he was shot in the 900 block of West 74th Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, Cruz-Mendoza and Fidel Campos, 24, were walking in an alley when they were shot, Los Angeles Police Det. Eric Crosson said.

Residents in the area heard the shots and called police, but authorities do not have a suspect description.

Cruz-Mendoza and Campos were both pronounced dead at the scene at midnight on Feb. 1, according to coroner’s records.
