Rickey Dwayne Brown Jr., 25

Rickey Dwayne Brown Jr., a 25-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Sept. 5 in the 100 block of E. Indigo Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Brown was approached by four Latinos, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. During the "encounter," Brown was shot, then ran toward East Myrrh Street and South Willowbrook Avenue, according to the release.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:33 p.m., according to coroner's records. Records show that Brown tried knocking on doors for help before he collapsed.
