Robert E. Donnell, 56

Robert Donnell, a 56-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Sept. 26, near Grand Avenue and 49th Street in South Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Initially, police said a woman was wounded in a shooting at 6:30 a.m. Donnell was killed in the same incident, LAPD Officer Gregory Baek said later.

The woman and Donnell were sitting in a car when a man approached them from behind and fired through the windshield, police said.

Donnell was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, Baek said.

Police were searching the area for the suspect, who left the scene on foot, but no description was available.
