A story for every victim

Roman Sandoval

Roman Sandoval, a 3-month old Latino baby boy, died Tuesday, June 28, after he suffered head trauma in the 2800 block of Del Amo Boulevard in Lakewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The child, who had multiple bruises on his body, was taken to a hospital in Long Beach by his mother, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Due to the extent of his injuries, the baby died, Winter said. Roman was pronounced dead at 6:46 a.m.

Coroner's records show that it was reported that the baby’s siblings had dropped him in a bathtub four days before his death. However, there were several old bruises, as well as new bruises on Roman’s body.

Winter said the child died from blunt head trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide.

The coroner's office did not have information indicating whether a person had been arrested in connection with Roman's death.

The Times is contacting detectives to obtain additional details about the case and will provide an update as soon as possible.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (800)-222-8477.
