A story for every victim

Royce Leon Lanham, 62

Royce Leon Lanham, a 62-year-old white man, was found dead Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the 800 block of West 173rd Street in Harbor Gateway, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 9:50 a.m., a person in the area spotted a woman dragging a long plastic sheet with a large object on it into a backyard, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri. The person thought the large object was a body and called police.

Police responded and discovered a body later identified as Lanham, wrapped in plastic and wire.

Lanham was pronounced dead at 12:22 p.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records, which also show that Lanham died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe there was an altercation inside the home that led to the killing, Kouri said.

It’s unclear what day Lanham was killed and what the altercation was over.

Lanham’s roommate, Kristen King Olson, a 39-year-old white woman, has been charged with one count of murder with the allegation that she used a handgun, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. Olson is due back in court on Nov. 8.
