A story for every victim

Sally Michel Mityas, 33

Sally Michel Mityas (2015-09-14)

Sally Michel Mityas, a 33-year-old Egyptian woman, was found dead Monday, Sept. 14, in a vacant field in the 1800 block of Gillette Road in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Police are searching for Tomas Sarinina, the brother of Mityas' boyfriend, as a suspect in her death. The San Bernardino County district attorney has issued a $1 million warrant for his arrest.

Mityas was last seen on Sept. 4 in her home in the 1600 block of Briar Avenue in Ontario, where she lived with her boyfriend and their three young children, as well as her boyfriend’s two adult brothers, according to a news release from the Ontario Police Department.

After Mityas’ boyfriend reported her missing, his brother, Tomas Sarinina, told investigators that he and Mityas got into a heated argument over money the day she disappeared, and Mityas packed her clothes and left in a maroon sedan around 11 a.m., according to the release.

Ontario police deemed Mityas' disappearance "unusual" almost immediately. She left behind her cellphone, her own car and her children (ages 1, 5 and 7), and the family did not know whom she left with, or who drives a maroon sedan, according to the release.

Mityas worked in a Norco dental office but did not show up for work when the office opened on Sept. 8 and had not been heard from since Sept. 4, according to The Times.

Her decomposed body was found in a field next to a homeless camp in Pomona, according to coroner’s records, and her body was identified using dental records. An autopsy revealed that Mityas was killed by a sharp-force injury to her chest, according to coroner’s records.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ontario Police Department at (909) 986-6711. Those wishing to remain anonymous should all Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
