Second man charged in rush-hour shooting death

A second man believed to be the gunman in the shooting death of a Los Angeles Unified School District custodian has been charged with murder, according to the L.A. County district attorney’s office.

On May 13, Andre Vincent Jackson, a 26-year-old black man, was arrested at a friend’s home, police said. Jackson, who was charged two days later, faces one count of murder with the use of a gun and one count of attempted murder with the use of a gun, according to the criminal complaint.

Jackson, along with Kenneth Clay, 30, is suspected of killing Jarret Crump, 21.

Crump was driving a 2003 green Infinity with a female passenger about 5:40 p.m. when he came to a stop at the busy intersection of West Century Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue, police said.

Surveillance footage showed that a person got out of a dark-colored SUV, walked through traffic and shot at Crump and the woman over the hood of another car.

Both Clay and Jackson face an allegation of committing the crime for the benefit of a street gang.
