Sergio Alonso Luevanos, 38

Sergio Alonso Luevanos, a 38-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, July 25, after being shot in the 400 block of North Marengo Avenue in Pasadena, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 11:30 p.m. July 24, Pasadena police responded to a call regarding gunfire in the area, according to a news release. Upon arriving, officers found Luevanos suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

He was transported to a hospital, where he died at 12:16 a.m. July 25, according to coroner’s records.

Detectives later arrested Armando Ramirez Hernandez, 18, and Luis Eduardo Figueroa, 19, in connection with Luevanos’ death. Police said the attack was sparked by a gang rivalry.

On Aug. 14, prosecutors charged both Hernandez and Figueroa with one count each of first-degree murder as well as gang allegations. Both men are scheduled to return to court Aug. 30 for a plea hearing.
