Sergio Beltran, a 37-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, April 12, in the 1300 block of East Washington Boulevard in downtown, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 10:40 p.m., a man walked up to Beltran at a gas station and shot him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Rich Arciniega.

Beltran was pronounced dead on a sidewalk at 10:33 p.m., according to coroner’s records. Police determined that Beltran had gotten into an altercation with two or three people moments earlier at a nearby restaurant, Arciniega said.

The assailants then followed Beltran to the gas station, where one person shot him.The shooter may have jumped into a small car, which fled the scene.
