Steve Dwayne Kelly, 42

Steve Kelly, a 42-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, July 10, in the 1700 block of East 109th Place in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Kelly was walking down the street about 9 p.m. when someone fired in his direction several times, said LAPD Criminal Gang & Homicide Det. Andrew Moody, who is handling the investigation.The gunshots came from west of where Kelly was hit,  Moody said.

Authorities were called, and Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene, Moody said.

Witnesses to the shooting have yet to provide a description of the suspected shooter; however, investigators are continuing to interview those at the scene.
