Steven Johnson Jr., a 26-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, March 21, in the 800 block of West 88th Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records and law enforcement.
About 11:20 p.m., Johnson was standing in the area when two people walked up and fired multiple shots in his direction, said Los Angeles police Det. Dave Garrido.
Johnson was struck and fell to the sidewalk, while the gunmen got into a light-colored SUV and drove east on 88th Street, Garrido said.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
