Steven Verne Bogue, 63

Steven Verne Bogue, a 63-year-old white man, was found dead Tuesday, Oct. 2, in his cell at Antelope Valley State Prison in the 44700 block of 60th Street West in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Bogue’s cellmate is suspected of killing him, authorities said. Prison officials identified Damian Reguera, 40, as the alleged assailant.

Authorities discovered Bogue unresponsive in their cell. Coroner's officials said Reguera stated he "killed him." Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said the victim died from manual and ligature strangulation.

Bogue arrived at the prison in July 2003 on a Siskiyou County conviction of assault with a deadly weapon and was scheduled to be released in July 2014.

Reguera arrived at the prison in May 2010 after being convicted of voluntary manslaughter in  Los Angeles County, officials said. He was scheduled to be released in May 2048.
