Third teenager charged in fatal Pico Rivera home invasion robbery

A third person has been charged in a Pico Rivera home-invasion robbery that left a 50-year-old man fatally stabbed, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

Angel Emilio Estrello, a 15-year-old Latino, was charged Sept. 26 as an adult with one count of murder, two counts of home-invasion robbery and one count of first-degree burglary, according to prosecutors.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, a woman called 911 to report a robbery. She said she had been attacked while sleeping and woke to find her husband with stab wounds and her 17-year-old son, Anthony Gutierrez, gone, according to the sheriff's department.

Gutierrez and Jesus Rafael Adame, an 18-year-old Latino, were spotted in a park and arrested on suspicion of murder the next afternoon. Estrello turned himself in at the Pico Rivera sheriff's station.

Prosecutors allege that Estrello, along with Adame and Gutierrez, attacked Sergio Gutierrez, then stole cash, credit cards and the family vehicle from the home.

Estrello, Adame and Gutierrez are being held without bail. Because Estrello and Gutierrez are minors, they are not eligible for the death penalty.
