Times coverage: Additional arrests made in 2008 stabbing of woman in Studio City

On July 28, 2008, Pamela Fayed, a 45-year-old white woman, was on the third floor of a parking structure when a man walked up and stabbed her several times in the neck. The suspect then fled in a red sport utility vehicle.

Two months after the incident, Fayed's husband, James Fayed, a 47-year-old white man, and his former employee Jose Luis Moya, a 49-year-old Latino, were arrested and charged in connection with her death.

Although the stabbing was not carried out by either James Fayed or Moya, prosecutors alleged the assault on Pamela Fayed was a murder-for-hire. Pamela and James Fayed were in the middle of a bitter divorce, and it was expected that Pamela would receive a large payout.

On June 14, Steven Vicente Simmons, a 21-year-old Latino, was arrested and Gabriel Jay Marquez, a 46-year-old Latino, was served with an arrest warrant while in custody at the Ventura County Sheriff's Department on an unrelated charge.

Detectives from LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division said Simmons carried out the fatal stabbing while Marquez is believed to have driven the getaway vehicle.
