Tommy Bernard Joseph, 34

Tommy Bernard Joseph, a 34-year-old black man, was fatally shot Thursday, Aug. 22, in the 700 block of West Laconia Boulevard in Harbor Gateway, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Joseph was talking with another person about 4 p.m. in front of an apartment building when a four-door light-colored vehicle drove past and a person inside yelled a gang slogan and fired several shots, said LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera.

The other person was not injured, LaBarbera said.

Joseph was taken to a hospital, where he died at 4:57 p.m., said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.
