Two sentenced to life in prison in fatal parking lot shooting

Two men were sentenced to life in prison last week in the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man during a drug-deal-turned-robbery in a community college parking lot.

Raheen Ahab Taylor, 33, and Derrick Phillip Wilson, 27, two black men, were sentenced Sept. 24. A  jury convicted Taylor and Wilson July 10 of first-degree murder, with the special allegation of murder in the commission of a robbery.

Taylor and Wilson were also convicted of three counts of second-degree robbery, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

Prosecutors said Taylor and Wilson were in a parking lot of Los Angeles Valley College in Valley Glen where they had agreed to purchase marijuana from three men, including Ricardo Zetino, 31.

During the meeting, however, Taylor and Wilson pulled out handguns and stole the drugs from the men.

Zetino was shot as he tried to block the escape of the two men, according to evidence presented during the trial.
