A story for every victim

Stephanie Roshawn Thompson, 35

Stephanie Thompson, a 35-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Sunday, Nov. 14, in the 1000 block of East 51st Street in South Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Note: An earlier version of this post, based on initial information from authorities, described the homicide victim as an "Unknown black female." Her name had been withheld until relatives could be notified. Also, her age was incorrectly given as 21 in the coroner's first report. ]

Police responded to a shooting call about 3:30 a.m., said LAPD Newton Det. Richard Arcienega.

When authorities arrived at an after-hours club at the location, they found Thompson shot several times. She was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead, he said.

No one else was injured.

At this time, there is no description of the shooter, Arcienega said, and there's no indication Thompson had any gang affiliation.

Anyone with information about the death of Stephanie Thompson or the identity of the shooter is asked to contact Det. Arcienega at (323) 846-6556. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800-222-8477).
