Veronica Hurtado De Reyes, 39 [Update]

Veronica Hurtado De Reyes, a 39-year-old Latina, died Thursday, March 15, in the 2700 block of East Florence Avenue in Huntington Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Hurtado De Reyes was found dead inside a vitamin store about 6:13 p.m. She was a store employee and on the job when she was killed, authorities said.

Huntington Park police said they believed the death to be related to a daytime robbery of the Global Nature store.

According to coroner's records, Hurtado De Reyes was discovered bound and gagged with a sheet, duct tape and zip tie.

"Businesses open, people walking around going home from work, doors are open.... Pretty bold on this suspect's [part], the way he did this," said Huntington Park police Det. Sgt. David Cassidy.

The L.A. Times Homicide Report lists 92 homicides within a two-mile radius of the shop since Jan. 1, 2007.
