William Sherman, 37

William Sherman, a 37-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, May 10, in the 3800 block of West 58th Street in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Sherman was walking to a party about 12:20 a.m. when he was approached by three unknown men and shot.

Authorities were called and the victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:01 a.m. Coroner's records show Sherman died from several gunshot wounds to his body.

Winter had no other details about the case.
