Willie Pritchett, 65 [Update]

Willie Pritchett, a 65-year-old black man, was found dead Monday, June 11, in the 5500 block of Figueroa Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Pritchett was staying at a senior living facility and had not been seen for several days, said LAPD 77th homicide Det. D. Vinluan, who is handling the case.

When a person went to conduct a welfare check, they discovered Pritchett stabbed several times. Authorities were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene about 2:02 p.m.

Vinluan said an arrest has been made in connection with the case; however, citing the ongoing investigation, declined to identify the suspect in custody.

[Updated June 26: Marcus Dantzler, a 37-year-old black man, was arrested in connection with Pritchett's death. Vinluan said Dantzler was an associate of the victim.

Dantzler was charged with one count of first-degree murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.]
