Jose Chavez, a 25-year-old Latino male, died Sunday, May 6, in South Park, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Selena Alfonso Galvez Gonzlaez, a white female, died Saturday, May 5, in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Aniy Cinoglu, a 52-year-old white woman, died Friday, May 4, after being stabbed in the 12800 block of Stardell Street in Whittier.
Cinoglu lived in Montebello but was a caretaker for a woman who lived in Whittier with her adult son, according to John Scoggins, a spokesman for the Whittier Police Department.
Someone inside the house called police at 12:12 p.m. to report that Cinoglu and the son, Alan Gozukara, 21, were arguing outside, Scoggins said.
When officers arrived, they found Cinoglu in the backyard with “multiple traumatic injuries,” Scoggins wrote in an email.
Cinoglu was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:47 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators immediately arrested Gozukara on suspicion of murder, according to Scoggins.
Gozukara, a white man, was charged with murder on May 8, with the special allegation that he used “a deadly and dangerous weapon, to wit, a meat cleaver,” said Sarah Ardalani, spokeswoman for …
Alton Kyle Lee, a 32-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, May 4, in the 8400 block of South Broadway in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 9:55 p.m., Lee was walking south on the east side of Broadway when two black men walked up behind him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling.
One of the men pulled out a gun and shot Lee from behind multiple times, Barling said.
Lee was pronounced dead on the sidewalk at 10:02 p.m.
Lee was returning home after a shopping trip with his mother, Barling said. Police are trying to determine why Lee was shot. He was not a documented gang member, police said.

Susan Beth Leeds, a 66-year-old white woman, died Thursday, May 3, after being stabbed in the parking structure of the Promenade on the Peninsula shopping center, 550 Deep Valley Drive, in Rolling Hills Estates, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Leeds, a retired nurse who lived in nearby Rancho Palos Verdes, was found inside her car at 12:22 p.m. with multiple stab wounds, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s news reports. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:36 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said Leeds’ throat also had been slashed.

Jaime Gabriel Butanda, a 14-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, May 1, after he was shot in the 300 block of South Enid Avenue in Azusa, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Azusa Police officers were called to the area about 3 p.m. regarding a gunshot victim and they found Jaime slumped over a fire hydrant with multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner’s records.
Jaime was near his home when he was shot, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:31 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators don’t have any information about the shooter, or a motive, Moore said.
They also don’t know if Jaime’s fatal shooting is related to the fatal shooting of William Perez, 21, which occurred five days earlier on April 27.

Fernando Hernandez, a 34-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, April 30, in the 3400 block of Grand Avenue in Huntington Park, according to coroner’s records.
Huntington Park Police officers were called to Hernandez’s home about 1:19 p.m. regarding a gunshot victim, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore said.
Investigators learned there had been a “disturbance” between Hernandez and his cousin, Daniel Plascenia, 28, outside the house, “and during the course of the disturbance, the suspect shot the victim,” Moore said.
Hernandez was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:51 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Plascenia, also known as Daniel Plascencia and Daniel Placencia, fled on a bicycle, riding south on State Street, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department. He was arrested May 2 in the Broadway-Manchester area of South Los Angeles, where he lives, according to jail records.

A 26-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to the January killings of an elderly man in Santa Monica and a homeless man in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Roy Antonio Davis, a black man, has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of first-degree burglary, prosecutors said. The charges include the special circumstance allegations that the Santa Monica slaying was committed during the commission of a burglary as well as the allegation of multiple murders.
