Eddie Johnny Roberts, a 78-year-old Black male, died Thursday, July 9, after being stabbed near the S/E corner of S. Crenshaw & West Jefferson boulevards in West Adams, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Gustavo A Ramirez, a 44-year-old Latino male, died Wednesday, July 8, after sustaining blunt force trauma near 14054 Vanowen St. in Valley Glen, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Steven Douglas Runnel, a 49-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, July 7, in the 1800 block of East 105th Street in Watts, according to coroner’s records.
Shortly after 8 p.m., Runnel was standing in front of a home hanging out with other people, said Los Angeles police Det. Nathan Kouri. A dark-colored sedan drove up, stopped a few houses down and a person inside began shooting in the direction of the group, Kouri said.
Runnel and a man in his 20s were struck. Runnel was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records. The other man is expected to survive.
The sedan drove off in an unknown direction, police said.

Gregory Leonard Taylor Jr., a 32-year-old Black male, died Tuesday, July 7, after being shot near the 800 block of West 82nd Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Edgar Roberto Vazquez Moreno, a 20-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, July 7, after being shot near 373 E. Piru St. in Willowbrook, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Jerry E. Lewis, a 50-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Sunday, July 5, in the 2300 block of Rosecrans Avenue in Gardena, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 7 p.m., officers from the Gardena Police Department responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from the department. Officers found Lewis, who had been shot in the lower body, police said.
Police said that Lewis walked into a market without a mask and got into an argument with a security guard there. Lewis left the store, then came back and got into a physical fight with the security guard, identified by police as Umeir Corniche Hawkins, 38.

James Horace Warren, a 33-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Sunday, July 5, near East 124th and South San Pedro streets in Willowbrook, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:40 a.m., Warren and a 31-year-old man were shot in the area, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Warren was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man was taken to a hospital.
The Sheriff’s Department did not say what led to the shooting, but said that the shooter fled the location in a white vehicle.
