Michael Tomas Moreno, a 35-year-old Latino male, died Sunday, Dec. 23, after being shot in San Dimas, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Andrew Nicholas Porter-Mitchell, a 21-year-old black man, died Sunday, Dec. 23, after he was shot near Manchester and Normandie avenues in Manchester Square, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.

On Dec. 20 about 11:40 p.m., Porter-Mitchell was driving a Mustang south on Normandie and stopped at a light at Manchester, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido.

A vehicle pulled alongside the Mustang and a person shot Porter-Mitchell, Garrido said.

Porter-Mitchell was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:35 p.m. Dec. 23, according to coroner’s records.

Detectives are trying to determine a vehicle and suspect description.

Felipe De Jesus Martinez Garcia, a 19-year-old Latino male, died Saturday, Dec. 22, after being shot in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Rogelio Villegas, a 24-year-old Latino male, died Saturday, Dec. 22, after being shot in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jose Lemus, a 57-year-old Latino male, died Friday, Dec. 21, after being shot in Azusa, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jerry Castro, a 26-year-old Latino male, died Thursday, Dec. 20, after being shot in Central-Alameda, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jack Hernandez, a 89-year-old Latino male, died Thursday, Dec. 20, after sustaining blunt force trauma in Downtown, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Gonzalo Lozano, a 27-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, after being shot in Florence-Firestone, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Kristian Gonzalez Valladares, a 21-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, after being shot in Baldwin Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Katherine Urquilla Galan, a 29-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Tuesday, Dec. 18, in the 200 block of North Bonnie Brae Street in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.

About 9:15 a.m., Galan was walking to her car when she was shot by her ex-boyfriend, said Los Angeles Police Det. John Melendez.

The man then turned the gun on himself, police said. It appeared that the man was waiting for Galan, Melendez said.

Galan broke up with the man about two months before she was killed, police said.

Galan was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 10:09 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The man, identified by the coroner’s office as Jose Torres Chabaj, a 31-year-old Latino, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he was also armed with a knife.

Lamont Ramon Alexander, a 34-year-old black male, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, after being stabbed in South Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Melanie Ann Cunningham, a 58-year-old white woman, was pronounced dead on Monday, Dec. 17, after she was fatally stabbed in the 15600 block of South Frailey Avenue in East Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Investigators were called to Cunningham's home after her longtime husband, Henry Cunningham, a 66-year-old black man, called the Los Angeles Police Department's Harbor Division to report he had stabbed his wife, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Det. Kevin Acebedo. 

Police officers took Henry into custody, and then called the sheriff's Homicide Bureau when they realized the case was in their jurisdiction, Acebedo said.

According to a news release from the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, Cunningham and her 1-year-old granddaughter were asleep inside her bedroom when her husband grabbed a kitchen knife and slit her throat.

Sergio Mares, a 42-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Monday, Dec. 17, in the 6700 block of Laurelgrove Avenue in North Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Mares had an address in Sun Valley, but also appeared to have been recently living out of his car, said Los Angeles police Det. Steve Castro.

Investigators believe Mares started working on his car that afternoon, in the Valley Plaza Recreation Center parking lot just west of where Laurelgrove Avenue runs into Archwood Street, Castro said. 

Mares had removed a tire from his car and had other tools laid out shortly before 6 p.m. when two men walked up and began shooting at him, Castro said. 

The shooters got into a black sedan and drove away, heading north toward Vanowen Street, Castro said.

Mares was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:34 p.m., according to coroner’s …
