Michael Ronae Bowman, 18
Michael Ronae Bowman, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, June 24, in the 6400 block of South Vermont Avenue in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 2 a.m., a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt walked into the Happy Shoppers Market and began to shoot into the cashier area, striking Bowman, said Los Angeles police Det. Nathan Kouri.
Bowman was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:07 a.m., according to coroner’s records. Bowman was also known as “Monte,” police said.
The gunman ran outside, where he was joined by another person, who, moments earlier, had shot at a group of people outside, but didn't hit anyone.
The two then fled on foot.

Abraham Manuel Hernandez, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, June 23, in the 3300 block of West 8th Street in Koreatown, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 5:40 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Olympic Division responded to a call of a shooting in the area and found Hernandez on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds, said Los Angeles police Det. Sean Kinchla.
Hernandez was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:21 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police identified the suspect as Rudy Saravia, a 28-year-old Latino, Kinchla said.
Saravia has been charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Saravia also faces gun and gang allegations.

Domonique Menion Paul, a 24-year-old black man, died Thursday, June 20, after he was fatally stabbed in the 3400 block of West Slauson Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, officers responded to a call of a loud party in the area, police said.
When officers arrived they were directed to an alley behind a shopping center and found Paul with stab wounds. Paul was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on June 20 at 11:25 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators believe that a group of people were hanging out in the parking lot of the Marathon Clothing store when Paul got into a verbal dispute with another person.
The two went into the alley, and the other person stabbed him.
Detectives are seeking witnesses.

Jury to mull whether killing of Pomona officer was self-defense
After five weeks of contentious testimony, a jury will soon decide whether a Mongols Motorcycle Club member murdered a Pomona SWAT officer after he burst into his San Gabriel home nearly five years ago, or acted in self-defense because he didn't know the intruder was a police officer.
David Martinez, 41, has been charged with murder and assault on a police officer with a firearm in the shooting that killed Shaun Diamond, 45, on Oct. 28, 2014. Martinez’s father, Arturo was also injured.
Closing arguments begin Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in downtown Los Angeles, after which the jury of six women and six men will begin deliberations. The trial began May 6.
