Daniel Becerra Chavez, a 25-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Oct. 25, at the intersection of Shrode and Lincoln avenues in Mayflower Village, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to the residential area about 7 p.m. regarding a shooting, which also injured a pregnant woman, said Homicide Bureau Sgt. Gean Okada. 

When deputies arrived, they found Chavez lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:21 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Witnesses told investigators that Chavez was walking north on Lincoln Avenue and approached Shrode Avenue. He reportedly got into an argument with someone in a small, dark-colored SUV that was heading west on Shrode, Okada said, and someone in the SUV opened fire, striking Chavez multiple times.

Christopher Thomas Rothschild-Cleveland, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Oct. 25, in the 400 block of Washington Boulevard in Marina Del Rey, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Rothschild-Cleveland was found in the parking lot of the Islands Restaurant about 3:40 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Holly Francisco. 

The restaurant was closed at the time of the shooting, she said. Witnesses told deputies they heard gunshots and tried to perform CPR until paramedics arrived, Francisco said, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:50 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to coroner's records. 

Rothschild-Cleveland lived in Marina Del Rey, Francisco said, but investigators don't know what he was doing in the parking lot at that hour of the morning. 

Investigators don't have any description of the person or persons responsible for the shooting.

Jesus Pimental, a 22-year-old Latino, died on Sunday, Oct. 25, after he was stabbed in the 1000 block of Maine Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Long Beach police officers were called about 7:45 p.m. and found Pimental lying on the sidewalk with a stab wound in his torso, according to a department news release. 

Pimental was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:16 p.m. 

Investigators had no suspect information, but they don't believe the stabbing was gang-related, according to the news release. Coroner's records reported that Pimental had been involved in an altercation before the stabbing. 

The stabbing occurred in a residential area next to Drake Park.

Baby Boy Hernandez, an unborn Latino, was pronounced dead Sunday, Oct. 25, after his  mother was found dead in the 7300 block of Neo Street in Downey, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Police were called to the scene about 8 p.m. on Oct. 21 — an apartment the baby's mother, Reyna Hernandez, 26, shared with her boyfriend, Nicholas Christopher Quezada, 29, and their 1-year-old son, Jude Christopher Quezada, said Downey Police Lt. Mark McDaniel. 

All of the family members were dead.

Reyna Hernandez was found in the bathroom with her toddler son. Both were in the bathtub, which was filled with water, McDaniel said. 

Coroner’s records said Hernandez died from a forced drowning and Jude died from  "asphyxiation — homicide.”

 Nicole Medina, a 26-year-old white woman also known as Nicole Danielson, died Saturday, Oct. 24, as a result of blunt force trauma. She was found in the 36200 block of Paradise Ranch Road in Castaic, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Medina was found in her home, where she lived with her husband, Robert Danielson, and their two children, ages 3 and 1, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch. 

Her husband called deputies about 8:38 a.m., after he found his wife unresponsive, Jauch said. 

Medina was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead at 9:28 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The autopsy listed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, Jauch said. Investigators are still trying to determine when the trauma occurred and what caused it, Jauch said.

Williams Patrick Simms, a 43-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Oct. 24, in the 600 block of East 83rd Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 10 p.m., Simms was at a party in front of a home when two Latinos walked up, said “Where you from,” and at least one of the men began shooting, said LAPD Det. Chris Barling.

Police said that the investigation is in preliminary stages but said that the crime does not appear to be racially motivated, but gang motivated.

The assailants ran east toward Stanford Avenue, Barling said. Simms was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:14 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Israel Luna, a 17-year-old Latino, died Friday, Oct. 23, after he was stabbed in the 5000 block of Whittier Boulevard, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies were called about 11:10 p.m., said Lt. Steve Jauch. They found Luna lying in the street, next to the curb, with a stab wound in his upper torso, Jauch said.

The block where Luna was stabbed is in a business area, with thrift stores, discount stores, fast-food restaurants and a medical clinic.

Luna was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:49 p.m., according to coroner's records. 

Jauch said investigators don't have any suspect information, nor a motive.

Joe Morales, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Oct. 22, at the intersection of West Lexington Avenue and South Park Avenue in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.  

Investigators found Morales alone behind the wheel of a silver Nissan, in the middle of the intersection, Pomona Police Lt. Eddie Vazquez said. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:32 p.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Morales’ shooting was part of a car-to-car shooting just outside Garey High School and Lexington Elementary School at 2:45 p.m., shortly before school was dismissed, Vazquez said. No students were involved in the shooting, he said, but the schools were locked down briefly as a precaution.

Dion Lamont Ramirez, a 53-year-old black man, was shot and killed by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the 400 block of West 111th Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before midnight on Oct. 19, deputies saw a person “driving recklessly” near West Century Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said that the driver sped off, leading deputies to a cul-de-sac in a couple miles away.  As Ramirez turned his car around and faced the deputies, a woman got out of the car. Ramirez then allegedly accelerated his car toward the passenger side of the patrol car where a deputy was standing, authorities said. 

Ramirez struck the patrol car, then the deputy opened fire, according to a news release. Ramirez was hit multiple times and was pronounced dead …

Tom Williams III, a 34-year-old black male, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, after being shot in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

William Tyshoen Davis, a 25-year-old black man, died Monday, Oct., 19, after he was shot in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue in Long Beach, according to authorities. 

Long Beach police were at 12:35 a.m., regarding a shooting victim, according to a department news release. Davis was shot in the torso on a residential street, according to the news release.

Davis was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead later that day, according to Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Marlene Arrona. 

Investigators don't have a motive for the shooting, but they believe it may be gang-related, Arrona said.
