Rene Alejandro Lupian, a 22-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the 900 block of South Concourse Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.  

Investigators believe that the shooting stemmed from a robbery, and that the attacker fled with Lupian's dark-colored Jansport backpack, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Det. Theo Baljet. 

His older sister, Christian Lupian, said she thinks the robber might have been attracted by her brother's necklace, which was lying on the ground when officers found him. 

"I think he tried to snatch it, rip it off him," Christian said. "It was gold, with a cross, something our grandma gave to him before she passed away six months ago. I would tell him sometimes, 'Dude, don't wear that out,' but he was so proud to wear it. It really meant a lot to him."

Juan Francisco Romero Gordillo, a 58-year-old Latino male, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, after being shot in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Issac Dubon, a 18-year-old Latino male, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, in East Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Royal Marshall, a black male, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, after sustaining blunt force trauma in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Carlo Alberto Mellado, a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the 800 block of West 167th Street in Harbor Gateway, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 11 p.m., Mellado was near the back of the apartment complex where he lived when a car drove by and a person inside shot at him, said Los Angeles police Det. Nathan Kouri.

Mellado was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:47 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The vehicle continued traveling west in the alley toward South Vermont Avenue. It’s unclear why Mellado was targeted, Kouri said, adding that the victim was not a gang member.

Calvin Furness Webb, a 59-year-old black male, died Monday, Nov. 5, after being shot in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Luis Enrique Perez, a 52-year-old Latino male, died Monday, Nov. 5, after being shot in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Michael Ali Hammonds, a 20-year-old black man, was fatally shot on Sunday, Nov. 4, in the 16200 block of Hawthorne Boulevard in Lawndale, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Hammonds, an aspiring rap singer from Hyde Park, was with longtime friend Daevion Johnson, 21, and a group of other people accompanying a neighborhood rapper who had rented space at a studio, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Martindale. 

During a commotion when he thought he and his friends were going to be attacked, Johnson fired a gun three times and accidentally struck his friend Hammonds, the only injury, Martindale said.

Hammonds was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:47 p.m. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the chest. 

Martindale provided details of the events of the evening, which he said involved two fights and much confusion.

Update: The Los Angeles County Medical-Examiner Coroner’s office has changed the mode of this death. It has not been ruled a homicide.

Beverly Ann Williams, a 65-year-old black female, died Saturday, Nov. 3.

Gustavo Castro Jr., a 35-year-old Latino male, died Friday, Nov. 2, after being shot in West Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

John Edward Venti, a 74-year-old white male, died Friday, Nov. 2, after being stabbed in Diamond Bar, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Linda Kay Venti, a 68-year-old white female, died Friday, Nov. 2, after being stabbed in Diamond Bar, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ralph Rivera, a 60-year-old Latino male, died Friday, Nov. 2, after being stabbed near the 1800 block of Johnson Street in Lincoln Heights, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Tiana Theresa Alfred, a 31-year-old female, died Friday, Nov. 2, after being strangled.
