Eddie Charles Talley II, a 65-year-old black man, was fatally shot on Friday, Sept. 28, in the 600 block of West Palmer Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
The shooting in Talley’s home also killed his stepdaughter, Britney Malone, 13, and seriously injured his wife, Katherine Evans, according to Evans' niece Shayla Greene.
Talley’s 43-year-old son, James Jajuan Williams, was arrested in connection with the shootings, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza. Williams lived in the home with his father and stepmother, along with Britney and her older brother and sister, Greene said.
Williams was charged with two counts of murder on Oct. 2, with a special circumstances allegation of multiple murders, and one count of attempted murder, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

A 42-year-old man who shot and killed his pregnant girlfriend before fleeing to Mexico was sentenced Friday to 75 years to life in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
Philip Patrick Policarpio pleaded no contest last month to one count of murder and one count of the murder of a fetus, prosecutors said.
He also admitted that he used a gun to kill Lauren Olguin, 32, on April 12, 2016, in East Hollywood, authorities said.
Olguin, who was about 17 weeks pregnant at the time of the shooting, was playing cards at a friend's apartment in East Hollywood when she got into an argument with Policarpio.
Witnesses said Policarpio hit Olguin, then placed a gun to her head and shot her.
The two had been dating about two months, according to witness testimony.

Guy Eugene Alford, a 20-year-old black man, was fatally shot on Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the 5100 block of Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Alford was inside a blue Chevrolet Impala in the parking lot of a Jack in the Box restaurant at East 52nd Street and Atlantic Avenue around 12:15 a.m. when he was shot in the torso, according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:25 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Long Beach investigators have not released any details about the shooting, and say they don’t have a motive.
