Shawn Jeffrey Dunford, a 41-year-old Black female, died Tuesday, May 15, in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
La’marrion Upchurch, a 15-year-old black male from Long Beach, was shot and killed Sunday, May 13, in the 300 block of West Manchester Avenue in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m., La’marrion and three other teenagers were walking east on West Manchester Avenue when they were shot, said Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling. All four teenagers were wounded. It's unclear where the shooting originated from, Barling said.
La’marrion was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:42 a.m., according to coroner's records.
The three other teens were taken to a hospital, police said. Monyae Jackson, 15, was pronounced dead two days later. The other two teenagers were treated and released, Barling said.
Detectives are looking into the motive for the shooting.

Rudolfo Rojas, a 46-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, May 13, at 5360 Huntington Drive N. in El Sereno, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after 5:15 p.m., Rojas was sitting down, talking to another person at a homeless encampment on a wide median when a person walked up from behind and fired at him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez.
Rojas was struck multiple times and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:52 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Rojas, who was homeless, grew up in the area, Ramirez said.

Bo Morrison, a 20-year-old black man, died Saturday, May 12, after he was shot in the 38100 block of 11th Street East in Palmdale, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Morrison was outside an apartment complex near where he lived when he was shot around 11:32 p.m. May 11, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore.
When deputies arrived, they found Morrison with gunshot wounds to his head and torso, according to coroner’s records.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:04 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators don’t have any suspect information or a motive for the shooting, Moore said.

Jessie Lemos Jr., a 32-year-old Latino, died Friday, May 11, after he was stabbed in the 14400 block of Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Lemos was in the parking lot outside Mike’s Liquor Jr. Market at the southeast corner of Pioneer Boulevard and Lindale Street at 6:36 p.m. when he got into an argument with another man, according to coroner’s records.
At some point during the argument Lemos was stabbed multiple times, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore.
Lemos, a resident of Long Beach, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:35 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as a stab wound to the left armpit.

Jai Malik Carter, a 23-year-old black man, was fatally stabbed Thursday, May 10, at 401 S. Vermont Ave. in Koreatown, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Olympic Division responded to a call of a stabbing at a smoke shop. When officers arrived, they found Carter on the sidewalk, according to a news release from the department.
Carter was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:51 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
A second man, later identified as Vardan Tokmajyan, a 24-year-old Armenian, was found nearby with injuries on his hand and foot.
Police don’t know what happened before Carter was stabbed, but it’s believed there was an argument or a “possible misunderstanding,” Det. Tyler Adams said in an email.
Adams said that during an altercation, Tokmajyan held Carter against his will and tried to take property from him.

Alvaro Castro, a 41-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Wednesday, May 9, in the 6500 block of San Juan Street in Paramount, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to the bike path along the Los Angeles River around 5:15 p.m., Lt. Derrick Alfred said.
Deputies found Castro, who had been shot multiple times, lying by the path near the end of San Juan Street, Alfred said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:39 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators think Castro was riding on the bike path when he was shot. His family lives nearby, Alfred said, and Castro had a long association with the area.
Investigators haven’t found anyone who saw the shooting. “They did see people fleeing the area,” Alfred said, “but whether they were running from fear or because they had shot him still has to be determined.”

Jorge Alberto Esteban, a 22-year-old Latino, died Wednesday, May 9, after he was shot in the 14700 block of Texaco Avenue in Paramount, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Residents found Esteban lying on the ground with gunshot wounds in front of Salud Park around 10:30 p.m. May 8, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died at 5:22 a.m. the following day, according to coroner’s records.
No one saw the shooting, Alfred said, but residents heard gunfire and reported seeing a dark-colored sedan speeding away.
Investigators don’t know whether the shooter was in the car or on foot and think the attack was gang-related.
