Jeffrey Frank Vezich, a 57-year-old white man, was found dead Tuesday, April 3, in the 8600 block of Tuscany Avenue in Playa del Rey, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division went to an apartment for a welfare check on Vezich and found him bludgeoned to death inside his home, LAPD Det. Dave Vinton said.
Vezich was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.
Police think Vezich was killed on March 25. Personal items had been taken from his home, Vinton said.
Bryan Partida, a 21-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder on April 10 in connection with Vezich’s death, according to online court records.

Israel Joel Castaneda, a 35-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Saturday, March 31, 2018, in the 37900 block of 47th Street East in Palmdale, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Castaneda was standing in front of Michael's Liquor and Market, 37935 47th Street East, around 10:50 p.m. when he was shot in the face and shoulder, according to coroner's records.
A male "of unknown race" was seen running away from the scene, heading south on 47th Street East, shortly after the shooting, but investigators don't know if he was involved in the shooting, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Castaneda, a resident of Palmdale, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:15 p.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds.

Freddie Mae Brandon, a 78-year-old black woman, was found dead Friday, March 30, in the 5900 block of West Boulevard in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 4 p.m., police from the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Division responded to a call of cardiac arrest at an apartment and found Brandon dead inside a bedroom, said LAPD Det. Chris Barling.
Brandon had suffered from blunt force trauma, police said. Brandon was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:36 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Brandon’s daughter, Mia Brandon, told The Times that her mother had lived in the ground-floor apartment for 22 years and knew residents in the area and the customers at the liquor store next door.

Quintin Pierre Holmes, a 20-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, March 29, near West Adams Boulevard and South Palm Grove Avenue in West Adams, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 10 p.m., Holmes and two other people were walking north on South Palm Grove Avenue approaching West Adams Boulevard when a car passed, Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido said.
The car, described as a dark sedan, made a U-turn, and a person inside shot at the three people, Garrido said.
Holmes was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:03 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
No one else was injured in the shooting. Holmes was not a documented gang member, and detectives are investigating a motive for the killing.

Roberto Fuentes, a 31-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, March 24, in the 600 block of Island Avenue in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:30 a.m., Fuentes was sitting in a parking lot in a Nissan Altima with another person when someone walked up and shot into the car, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dawna Killingsworth.
Fuentes was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:51 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The other person in the car was not injured.
Police say it's unclear why Fuentes, who lived in the area, was shot.

Fernie Xavier Garcia, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, March 23, at Johnston Street and Manitou Avenue in Lincoln Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Garcia was driving a gray sedan on Manitou Street and stopped at an intersection about 2:25 p.m., Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez said. Another vehicle pulled alongside Garcia’s car, and a person fired from the vehicle, Ramirez said.
A passerby stopped and called 911, and Garcia’s car came to a stop near Gates Street and Manitou Avenue, Ramirez said.
Garcia was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:05 p.m., according to coroner’s records. A passenger in Garcia’s car was not injured during the shooting.

Bryan Jerome Bowen, a 27-year-old black man, died Wednesday, March 21, after he was shot in the 300 block of West 101st Street in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 11:50 p.m. March 20, two men walked into a home and one pointed a gun at a man sitting on a couch before asking about a man “with the gold chains,” said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
Bowen walked into the room and the man pointed the gun at him, Kouri said. Bowen tried to wrestle away the weapon, but the man shot him, police said.
The shooter’s accomplice fled, while other people in the home began to beat the gunman, later identified as Chizem Cassell, a 19-year-old black man, Kouri said.
Bowen was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:18 a.m. March 21, according to coroner’s records.

Eric Xavier Urias, a 25-year-old white man, was shot and killed Tuesday, March 20, in the 3700 block of West 106th Street in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 12:30 a.m., officers from the Inglewood Police Department received a call about a burglary in progress, police told KTLA. Three armed men broke into a home and opened fire, shooting Urias and two women.
Urias was pronounced dead at the scene at 1 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
The two women were taken to a local hospital and were listed in stable condition.
Officers arrested all three suspects the same day. Donnelle Ali Taufaao, a 20-year-old Samoan man, was shot and killed Saturday, March 17, in the 600 block of East University Drive in Carson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Taufaao was standing outside a strip mall liquor store around 9:45 p.m. when a car drove up and he started talking to the man inside, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred said.
“The conversation got heated, and the witnesses said they could see it going sideways. They ran inside the liquor store, heard the shots and then came out and saw the victim on the ground,” Alfred said.
Taufaao was pronounced dead at the scene at 10 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The coroner’s office said Taufaao was from Lynwood, but investigators think he most recently was living near where he was shot.
The gunman, described only as a Latino adult, drove away in a light-colored sedan, Alfred said.
