Frank Dario Lopez, a 48-year-old Latino, was shot and killed by a sheriff’s deputy on Sunday, Dec. 10, in the 11900 block of Droxford Street in Artesia, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to the residential neighborhood shortly after 9 p.m. regarding a man in an SUV looking into parked vehicles, said Lt. Joe Mendoza. Callers said the man was driving erratically and was parking his car on the lawn of a house. 

The man eventually parked his car in a vacant lot and walked into the neighborhood, Mendoza said. A deputy searching for the suspicious person found Lopez hiding behind trash cans between two houses, he said. 

The deputy asked Lopez to come out, Mendoza said, “and he became uncooperative. He approached the deputy and physically attacked him. The deputy was alone at that time and called for assistance.”

Wynborne Cunningham, a 26-year-old black man, was found stabbed to death Sunday, Dec. 10, in the 2000 block of South Arlington Street in Arlington Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On Wednesday, Dec. 6 between 7 and 10 p.m., Cunningham got into an argument with a cousin who had come to visit, which resulted in a stabbing inside the victim's apartment, said Los Angeles Police Lt. John Radtke.

The suspect, later identified as Ethan Webber, a 24-year-old black man, then jumped from a window in the second-floor apartment and ran away, investigators said. 

On Dec. 10, an apartment manager discovered Cunningham’s body, police said. Authorities were called, and Cunningham was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:57 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Cunningham was an Air Force veteran and had been living in Los Angeles for a short period of time, police said. His cousin had come to …

Rito Esqueda, a 46-year-old Latino male, died Saturday, Dec. 9, after being shot in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Alfredo Linares, a 29-year-old Latino male, died Thursday, Dec. 7, after being shot in North Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Knarik Nazaryan, a 55-year-old white female, died Thursday, Dec. 7, after being strangled in La Crescenta-Montrose, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Roberto De La Cruz Jr., a 33-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the 8800 block of Kester Avenue in Panorama City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 12:35 p.m., patrol officers from the LAPD’s Mission Division responded to a call of shots fired near the Sepulveda Recreation Center, according to a news release from the department.

When officers arrived, they found De La Cruz in a grassy area with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release.

De La Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:55 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives are looking for additional witnesses to the shooting.

Some in the area heard six shots, and at least one person saw three Latinos wearing dark clothing running away from the park to the west, officials said.

Javier Agusto Muñoz, a 25-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the 3500 block of East 6th Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 1 p.m., Muñoz was walking in an alley when he was shot, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Muñoz was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:33 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police are trying to determine a suspect description.

Adrian Santillan, a 29-year-old Latino male, died Monday, Dec. 4, after being shot in Paramount, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jamie Maurice Brown, a 34-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Dec. 4, in the 2100 block of East 99th Place in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., Brown was walking in the area when a vehicle drove by and a person inside opened fire, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

A resident in the area heard the gunfire and found Brown on the sidewalk. Authorities responded and pronounced Brown dead at the scene at 2:06 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Police are working on a vehicle description.

Travon Brown Jr., a 21-year-old black man, died Sunday, Dec. 3, after he was shot in the 200 block of Willowbrook Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Brown was standing near the ticket machines on the Metro Blue Line passenger platform about 3:30 p.m. when he began arguing with a group of people who got off the train, said L.A. County Sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred. 

"Words were thrown back and forth ... it was a gang-related thing," Alfred said. "Someone got disrespected and it became a fight, then a gunshot was fired and the victim was struck."

Everyone scattered when the shots were fired, Alfred said. Brown ran a short distance then collapsed. 

Paramedics took Brown to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the chest.

Amber Loraine Alvarado, an 18-year-old Latina, died Sunday, Dec. 3, after being shot the day before in the 35800 block of 96th Street East in the Antelope Valley town of Littlerock, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

 L.A. County Sheriff's deputies were called to 96th Street East and East Avenue T12 at 11:27 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, after a passerby reported finding a car crashed into a chain link fence in front of a house, said Lt. Derrick Alfred. 

Deputies found Alvarado alone, slumped inside the car, Alfred said. It first appeared she was the victim of the collision, he said, but then paramedics realized she had been shot. 

Alvarado was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:59 a.m. Dec. 3, according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the neck.

Michael Mark Lowe, a 43-year-old Latino, died on Saturday, Dec, 2, after he was shot in the 100 block of East Olive Avenue in Monrovia, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Lowe and a friend were at the Gem City Grill on at about 11:40 p.m. Dec, 1 when four people from a rival gang came into the bar, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. John Corina.

Two of the newcomers began arguing with Lowe and his friend, Corina said. 

“We believe it was a gang thing,” Corina said. “It was just posturing and saying things like, ‘Which gang are you from?’ Things got heated and one (of the newcomers) started shooting.”

Lowe, his friend, and another patron at the bar were struck by the gunfire, and all three were taken to the hospital, Corina said.

Bryan Erives, a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Dec. 2, in the 14400 block of Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Erives was sitting in his car behind R&G’s Food Basket around 8:50 p.m. when several Latino adults approached, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred.

“They had a short conversation, asking him about his gang affiliation, and then one of them opened fire on him,” Alfred said. 

He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Witnesses heard the gunfire and saw the suspects running away, Alfred said. There were early reports about a brown jeep leaving the scene, but investigators aren’t sure whether the men got into a vehicle or fled on foot. 

Erives lived in Norwalk, about a mile from where he was shot, Alfred said.

Daniel Salcido, a 24-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, Dec. 2, in the 2400 block of Manville Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Pomona police responded about 11:15 p.m. to a call about a shooting, according to Sgt. Brian Hagerty. Officers found Salcido and two others in a dark-colored SUV. Salcido had been shot several times and died at the scene at 11:30 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The other two men were taken to a hospital and later released, Hagerty said.

The three men had left a family party earlier that night and were driving to a friend’s house before the shooting, officials said. A white SUV pulled alongside the passenger side of the vehicle where Salcido was sitting, and the two drivers got into an argument, Hagerty said. The driver of the white SUV pulled a gun and fired into the other vehicle, witnesses told police. …
