Shakere “Keke” Tasahi Chambers, a 23-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Sunday, April 23, in the 400 block of East 116th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

At 9:40 p.m., Chambers and her cousin Aaron Roseboro, 23, were walking toward Roseboro’s driveway when a vehicle traveling east on East 116th Street stopped, Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri said.

Two people got out of the car and began shooting in the direction of Chambers and Roseboro, Kouri said. The shooters then got back into the car and continued east.

Chambers was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:01 p.m., according to coroner’s records. Roseboro died at an area hospital.

Police described the shooters’ vehicle as a dark, four-door sedan. They think one other person, a driver, also was involved in the fatal shooting.

Neither Chambers nor Roseboro was involved in gang activity, police and family members said. The …

Aaron Andre Roseboro, a 23-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, April 23, in the 400 block of East 116th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 9:40 p.m., Roseboro walked outside his home to meet his cousin Shakere Chambers, 23, who had parked her car down the street, police said.

The two were approaching Roseboro’s driveway when a vehicle traveling east on East 116th Street stopped, Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri said. 

Two people got out of the car and began shooting in the direction of Chambers and Roseboro, Kouri said. The shooters then got back into the car and continued east.

Roseboro was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:34 p.m., according to coroner’s records. Chambers died at the scene.

Devonte Darnell Zeno, a 24-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, April 22, in the 300 block of West 50th Street in South Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 5:50 p.m., Zeno and another person were walking when they were shot, Los Angeles Police Det. Dan Gersna said.

Police think there was a confrontation involving at least one other person before the shooting.

Zeno was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:11 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The other pedestrian also was taken to a hospital, but is expected to recover, officials said. 

Gersna declined to release any suspect information but said no arrests have been made.

Kevin Ty Whitehurst II, a 25-year-old black man, died Thursday, April 21, after being stabbed near Washington Avenue and West 132nd Street in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 8:15 p.m., Hawthorne police responded to a call about an unresponsive man in a driveway, according to Sgt. Kevin Keus. Officers found Whitehurst lying in a pool of his own blood, suffering from a stab wound to the chest. 

Authorities said Whitehurst told police he did not remember much about the attack. He was taken to a hospital, where he died at 2:58 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Keus said detectives are looking for witnesses to the attack.

Lanette Washington, a 29-year-old black woman, died Friday, April 21, after being shot in the 5900 block of Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Long Beach police responded about 10 a.m. to a motel where a woman had been shot, according to a police news release. Officers found Washington in a room with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a hospital where she died at 10:22 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Homicide detectives described the suspect as a black man in his 20s , wearing a red shirt and jeans. Police believe the shooting may have happened as a result of a dispute.

William Luther Hayes, a 38-year-old black man, died Thursday, April 20, in the 500 block of Cherry Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 9 p.m. the night before, Long Beach police responding to a call about a shooting found Hayes with a gunshot wound, according to a police news release.

Hayes was transported to a hospital and died at 1:56 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

On April 22, police identified Long Beach resident Jason Daniels, 33, below, as a suspect, the release said. He was last seen with long black hair in a ponytail, according to detectives. Detectives do not believe the shooting to be random. 

Officers also identified Daniels' vehicle, a 2002 black Dodge Durango with the license plate “1RAVON.” The SUV has damage on the right passenger side and has 22-inch rims, according to the release.

Darrell Don Woo, a 55-year-old Asian man, was shot and killed Thursday, April 20, in the 1500 block of West Carson Street in Torrance, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Woo was waiting at a bus stop when he was shot at 6:40 p.m. and collapsed on the sidewalk, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. Another person, a Latino, was wounded.

Wood collapsed on the sidewalk, police said. He and the other man were taken to a hospital, where Wood was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The other man is expected to survive.

Police are working to compile a description of the suspect.

De Marco Rankin, a 32-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 19, in the 2900 block of Stocker Plaza in Leimert Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 2:20 p.m., Rankin was sitting in the front passenger seat of a silver Ford pickup at 8th Avenue and Stocker Plaza when a dark-colored sedan pulled up, Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido said.

A black man exited the vehicle, approached the truck and fired multiple shots into the vehicle, Garrido said.

Rankin, who got out of the truck and collapsed a short distance away,  was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:30 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Warren C. Bood, a 27-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 19, in the 7600 block of South San Pedro Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 6:25 p.m., Bood was standing at East 76th and South San Pedro streets when a minivan pulled up, Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido said. “Words were exchanged,” Garrido said, and the vehicle continued on.

Bood then crossed the street and entered a business. He exited and walked back across the street. At that time, a Latino walked around the corner and opened fire at Bood, Garrido said.

Bood was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Whitney Jade Washuta, a 25-year-old white woman, was shot and killed on Tuesday, April 18, in the 8700 block of Rosewood Avenue in West Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Washuta was walking near her home around 8:40 p.m. when she was shot by a man who then fled, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore. 

Washuta collapsed on the sidewalk, where she was pronounced dead at 8:55 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. 

Family and friends told KTLA-TV Channel 5 that Washuta and her sister had moved to West Hollywood from the East Coast five years earlier. They said she had been walking her dog moments before she was shot.

John Sanchez Sanchez Garcia, a 46-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, April 18, after being shot in El Monte, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Daniel Esteban Pacheco, a 20-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, April 18, more than a week after he was shot in the 7300 block of Tampa Avenue in Reseda, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Pacheco was shot after getting into an argument at a house party about 10:30 p.m. April 9, according to Lt. Mike Kozak with the Valley homicide bureau.

Pacheco was taken to a hospital, where he remained in critical condition until April 18, when he was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police are following up with witnesses and trying to identify the suspect, Kozak said in an email. It was unclear what led to the dispute.

Carlos Arturo Alarcon-Pantoja, a 26-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, April 18, after being shot in Industry, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jose Luis Sanchez, a 42-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, April 16, in the 700 block of South Westlake Avenue in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 11 p.m., officers from the LAPD’s Rampart Division responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon at an apartment complex, said Los Angeles Police Det. Ray Martinez.

Police found Sanchez, who had been stabbed multiple times. Sanchez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:57 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Investigators believe that Sanchez and another person were on the second floor of the apartment building when they got into an argument, Martinez said. The other person pulled out a knife and stabbed Sanchez multiple times in the hallway, Martinez said.
