Jacinto Magana, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 25, at the corner of Parmelee Avenue and Nadeau Street in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Magana lived in the neighborhood and had been visiting friends at an automotive shop when he decided to walk to a store shortly after noon, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Ewing.
As he was walking through the residential area, he was confronted by three men who shot him multiple times, Ewing said.
Magana was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:50 p.m., according to coroner's records.
“There was some kind of altercation, and we think it might have been an attempted robbery, but that area has a heavy population of miscellaneous gangs ... so we really don’t know,” Ewing said.
