Fabio Sementilli, a 49-year-old white man, was found fatally stabbed Monday, Jan. 23, in the 5000 block of Queen Victoria Road in Woodland Hills, according to police and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 5 p.m., officers responded to a medical emergency call and found Sementilli on his patio “with injuries to his face and significant blood,” said Officer Liliana Preciado, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Sementilli had sustained numerous stab wounds to his neck and upper torso, according to police. He was unconscious and not breathing when authorities arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene, Preciado said. 

Sementilli’s car, a black 2008 Porsche Carrera 911, was missing, Preciado said. The vehicle had paper plates. Police later found the vehicle, and the case remains under investigation.

Alexander Salazar, a 21-year-old Latino male, died Sunday, Jan. 22, after being shot in Azusa, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jorge Victor, a 33-year-old Latino, died Sunday, Jan. 22, after he was shot by police in the 2700 block of East 220th St. in Carson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 10:50 p.m. on Jan. 21, Long Beach police responded to report about gunshots in the 900 block of Via Wanda, according to a news release. They found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later released. 

Gang enforcement detectives looked for the gunman through the night. About 11 a.m. on Jan. 22, detectives identified Victor as the gunman and went to his house in Carson. 

As SWAT officers approached the home, Victor fled out the back and jumped multiple fences.

Kenyond Brown, a 40-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Jan. 21 in the 2500 block of Hyde Park Boulevard in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 1:14 p.m., Brown was riding his bike east on Hyde Park Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido. A dark-colored sedan going in the same direction approached and either one person or more than one person inside began shooting, Garrido said.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Coroner’s records show he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The sedan fled east and out of view. Police are looking for witnesses.

Aaron Joshua Holt, a 28-year-old black man, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, after he was shot on the 110 Freeway between the Sepulveda Boulevard and 223rd Street exits in West Carson, according to Los Angeles County authorities. 

Holt, a single father of two, was a front-seat passenger in a car heading north on the 110 on Jan. 20, when someone began shooting into the car shortly after 7 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s homicide Det. Dean Camarillo. 

Investigators believe the shooter was in another vehicle, but “this is just preliminary information,” Camarillo said, “Nothing has been confirmed. It’s not like this is your typical crime scene.”

Holt was struck multiple times in the head and neck, according to records from the L.A. County coroner’s office. 

The driver took Holt to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following day at 3:53 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Deseret Antoinette Favila, a 33-year-old Latina, died Thursday, Jan. 19, after she was stabbed in the 1000 block of Griswold Avenue in San Fernando, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

San Fernando police were called to Favila’s home about 2:55 a.m., where she lived with her husband, two children and other adult family members, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza. 

Emergency crews discovered that Favila had been stabbed multiple times in her upper torso and were unable to revive her, Mendoza said. Favila was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:05 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Investigators detained Favila’s husband, Jorge Casas, 37, for questioning and later arrested him on suspicion of murder, Mendoza said. 

The Times reported that Casas is a former Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, who resigned in 2006 for personal reasons after two years of service.

Michael Yonko, a 46-year-old white man, died Thursday, Jan. 19, a week after he was beaten near West Sixth Street and South Vermont Avenue in Koreatown, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, Yonko was sitting in a chair in a parking lot when a person described as a black man with bulky clothing walked up behind him and assaulted him with a baseball bat, said Los Angeles Police Det. John Lamberti.

Yonko was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:09 a.m. on Jan. 19, according to coroner’s records.

Yonko was a homeless man who frequented the area, Lamberti said.

Ovik Oganesyan, a 50-year-old Armenian man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the 12400 block of Venice Boulevard in Mar Vista, according to police and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 11:30 a.m., witnesses saw a man and woman wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, walk into a marijuana dispensary. Minutes later, gunshots were heard, said Los Angeles Police Lt. John Radtke. 

Police responded and found a wounded Oganesyan inside the dispensary. Police believe Oganesyan was working there and had been robbed, Radtke said.

Oganesyan was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:05 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

So far, police don’t have a description of a suspect.

“We’re hopeful that we’ll get into video, but we don’t have that yet,” Radtke said.

Juan Alcala-Romero, a 29-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the 1200 block of 256th Street W in Harbor City, according to police and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., Alcala-Romero returned home from a store and was standing in his backyard when he was shot, said Los Angeles Police Det. Julie Scruggs.

Alcala-Romero was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unknown if the gunman acted alone or was with others, Scruggs said.

Police are looking for witnesses. Alcala-Romero was not a documented gang member, and so far the motive for the shooting is unknown.

Mercredi Ad Khourn, a 31-year-old Asian man, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, after he was shot the day before in the 600 block of Burnett Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 8 p.m. Jan. 17, Long Beach police found Khourn with gunshots to the chest, a department news release said. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead the next day at 2:25 p.m, according to coroner’s records. 

Police said the gunman, who has not yet been identified, fled after the shooting. A motive has not yet been determined, according to the news release.

Sarkis Kite Benarbachian, a 32-year-old white male, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, after being shot in Reseda, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

David Darnell Stroughter, a 50-year-old white male, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, after being shot by law enforcement near Kentwood & Manchester avenues in Westchester, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, a 34-year-old man from Bangladesh, was shot to death Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the 2100 block of North Vermont Avenue in Los Feliz, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records and authorities.

About 3:30 a.m., a man entered a Chevron station and purchased an item, police said. The man later returned to the counter, pulled out a handgun and demanded money.

Rahman, a clerk at the station, complied, but the assailant shot him. Rahman called 911 and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:25 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The gunman fled in a light-colored car, police said.

Hours after the shooting, local residents stopped at the gas station to hug members of the staff, who stood beside a cordon of yellow police tape.
