Greta Kurian, a 22-year-old white woman, was fatally shot Monday, Nov. 21, in the 100 block of Park Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Officers were called about 10 p.m. to a possible domestic violence incident at a condo in the 1000 block of Park Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The condo’s door was ajar, and inside officers found Kyle Kurian, 25, and his wife, Greta Kurian, 22, with gunshot wounds in their upper torsos, police said.
Greta Kurian was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, a South Gate police officer, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His death was ruled a suicide, according to coroner’s records
Police said Kyle Kurian killed his wife before shooting himself, but the case is under investigation by homicide detectives. Investigators recovered a handgun inside the condo.

Larry James Dillingham Jr., a 29-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Nov. 21, near Stanford Avenue and East 97th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after noon, Dillingham was working on a car as a group of fewer than 10 people stood nearby. That's when a vehicle drove by and a person opened fire, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
Dillingham was struck and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:50 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
It’s unclear whether Dillingham was the target, Kouri said.
The gunman's vehicle, described as a black sedan, was driven away south on Stanford Avenue, then east on East 98th Street.

Mario Gavino Chavarria Jr., a 36-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Nov. 20, in the 8200 block of Olanda Street in Paramount, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Chavarria was standing in the driveway outside his home about 4 p.m. when two men walked up and appeared to have a brief conversation, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Cotter.
At least one of the men pulled out a gun and began shooting, Cotter said.
Chavarria was struck multiple times and collapsed. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:37 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Witnesses were unable to provide any further details about the confrontation or a description of the shooters, Cotter said.
Investigators believe the shooting may be gang related, he said.

James Gregory Medrano, a 26-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 19, in the 12200 block of Sproul Street in Norwalk, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Medrano was at the Norwalk Skate Park shortly before 8 p.m. when he noticed a man trying to rob another skater of his board, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Cotter.
Witnesses told investigators that Medrano tried to intervene and got into an argument with the robber, Cotter said. The robber then pulled out a handgun and shot Medrano multiple times.
The skate park was crowded, Cotter said, but when the shooting began, most people ran away, including the victim of the robbery.
Medrano fell to the ground, where he was pronounced dead at 8:18 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Juan Carillo Ortiz, an 18-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 19, at the southwest corner of East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Carmelita Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Ortiz and two other men were standing in the parking lot in front of K’s Jr. Market at 4106 East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue about 5:56 p.m., when someone began shooting in their direction, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Cotter.
“This one is a real mystery because nobody saw anything,” Cotter said. “People heard gunshots and saw the victims afterwards, but there is no suspect description, no direction, no anything.”

Jose George Anthony Franco, a 37-year-old Latino, was shot and killed by police officers on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the 13400 block of Penn Street in Whittier, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Whittier police officers were called to the scene around 6 a.m. after someone called the department reporting "a suspicious man walking westbound on Penn Street, possibly holding a machete," according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch.

Smith was standing with two other men in front of Young's Liquor Mart at the southwest corner of El Segundo Boulevard and Doty Avenue about 3:21 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Joe Mendoza.
Witnesses told investigators that a dark-colored four-door sedan pulled into the parking lot and three black men got out, Mendoza said. The men who got out of the car had a brief argument with one of the three men, then one of the men who got out of the car pulled out a gun and began firing.

David Joseph Macias, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Nov. 14, in the 4600 block of Imperial Highway near Eucalyptus Avenue in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Macias was walking westbound on the sidewalk on Imperial Highway, heading toward his home, when two men approached him about 9 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.
Witnesses reported hearing a brief argument, then gunshots, Mendoza said.
Macias was shot several times in the torso, Mendoza said. He ran west to Eucalyptus Avenue then turned south, collapsing in the 11500 block of Eucalyptus, not far from his home.
Neighbors saw him fall and called 911, Mendoza said. Macias was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m.
