Barry Prak, a 27-year-old Asian man, was shot and killed by a Long Beach police officer Tuesday, June 28, in the 2800 block of East 15th Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Prak was a suspect in a Jan. 26, 2014, gang shooting in Long Beach that injured three men, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release. Investigators got a warrant for Prak’s arrest in April.

Around 9 a.m. on June 28, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force requested assistance from Long Beach police after they spotted Prak and tried to arrest him in the area of 16th Street and Temple Avenue, the news release said. 

Prak allegedly ran from the marshals, who pursued him on foot to an apartment on East 15th Street.

Grady Lee Wilcots, a 53-year-old black man, was pronounced dead Tuesday, June 28, after he was shot the day before at the corner of South Central Avenue and East 148th Street in West Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Wilcots was working with a construction crew that was repaving South Central Avenue at 4:05 p.m. June 27, when a young Latino ran from 148th Street and shot him multiple times, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Rosson.

“There were probably 20 to 25 members of a crew working at that time, and it appeared to the witnesses that he [the gunman] ran straight up to Wilcots and opened fire,” Rosson said. 

Wilcots was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day at 7:07 p.m. from a gunshot wound to the head, according to coroner's records.

Jesus Antonio Fernandez, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, June 28, near the 1200 block of North Loma Vista Drive in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 11:15 p.m., Long Beach police responded to a call of shots fired, according to a news release from the department.

Officers found Fernandez in the street with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:24 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Christopher Ramirez, a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, June 27, in the 7300 block of Pacific Boulevard in the Walnut Park community of southeast Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Ramirez was with a group of six male friends who got into a fight with several other men in the commercial area about 9 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Rosson. 

During the fight, someone pulled out a handgun and started shooting, Rosson said, striking Ramirez in the upper torso.  

Ramirez ran across Pacific Boulevard where he collapsed, Rosson said. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:59 p.m. from multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner's records. 

Rosson said Ramirez lived in Huntington Park and was not a documented gang member.

Phillip Gonzalez, a 27-year-old Latino, was killed Sunday, June 26, when he was shot near the corner of East Laurel Street and South Rose Avenue in Compton, according to authorities. 

Gonzalez was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked car with two other friends about 11 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. John Corina. The car was parked along the curb, and the three men were “just hanging out” in an area of commercial buildings and apartments, Corina said. 

A Latino adult rode up to the car on a bicycle and started shooting through the open driver’s side window, Corina said. 

Gonzalez, a resident of Compton, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:17 p.m., with multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner’s records.

Anthony Parker, a 32-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, June 26, in the 1400 block of West 152nd Street at South Tajauta Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Parker was riding a bicycle in the residential neighborhood about 11:23 p.m. when a white SUV drove up beside him, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. John Corina. 

Witnesses told investigators that Parker conversed with the people in the SUV for several minutes, before someone in the vehicle pulled out a gun, Corina said. 

“They were just having a conversation, and then somebody starts shooting,” Corina said. 

Parker dropped his bike and tried to run, but he collapsed a short distance away, Corina said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:41 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to coroner’s records.

Darryl Lamont Geeter, a 22-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, June 26 in the 800 block of West 105th Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8 p.m., Geeter was walking east on West 105th Street when a silver sedan pulled up from a nearby alley, Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri said. A person jumped out of the car and shot Geeter, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:13 p.m.

About 30 minutes later, Mark Le Roy Tyree Jr., 15, was killed in a drive-by shooting in the  1300 block of West 92nd Street, according to the Los Angeles County sheriff's department. The suspect vehicle was described as a dark, possibly primer gray sedan.

Kouri said it’s unknown whether the two incidents were related.

Mark Le Roy Tyree Jr., a 15-year-old black youth, was shot and killed Sunday, June 26, in the 1300 block of West 92nd Street in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Tyree was a high school student who lived a few streets away from the shooting scene, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. John Corina. 

He was hanging out with a 14-year-old friend in the driveway of his friend’s home about 8:26 p.m. when a dark-colored sedan drove by, Corina said. 

At least one person in the car opened fire, striking Tyree multiple times, Corina said. His friend was not injured. 

Tyree was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m. with gunshot wounds to the arm and chest, according to coroner’s records. 

Witnesses were unable to provide a description of the shooter, or shooters, Corina said. …

Phillip Franklin Niles Jr., a 25-year-old white man, was fatally shot Saturday, June 25, in the 1600 block of The Midway Street in Glendale, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 4 a.m., Niles was shot and ran a short distance before collapsing on the front lawn of a home, police said.

Niles, of Daytona Beach, Fla., was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:32 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Investigators spent hours canvassing the neighborhood, searching for leads.

“They went from not knowing the victim to a complete ‘whodunit’ case to seriously putting some good work into it,” Glendale Police Sgt. Robert William said.

Hours earlier, police discovered that Niles was out with friends and met Dezerea Lyons, an 18-year-old woman, and her friend.

Curtis Gregory Draskovich, a 24-year-old white man, was shot and killed Thursday, June 23, in the 100 block of West 9th Street in San Pedro, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 2 a.m., Draskovich was walking east on West 9th Street to visit a friend when a vehicle approached, said Los Angeles Police Department Det. Julie Scruggs.

A person shot Draskovich then drove off. Police are unsure if the assailant got out of the vehicle or shot from inside the car, Scruggs said.

Draskovich was pronounced dead at 2:06 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner's records.

So far, the vehicle has been described only as a compact car, Scruggs said.

Keyon Lamar Childs, a 26-year-old black man, was fatally shot Thursday, June 23, in the 900 block of East Slauson Avenue in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 1:30 p.m., Childs and two others were in a silver Infiniti traveling east on East Slauson Avenue when a large van approached and a person inside began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Julio Benavides. Childs' car then hit a light pole about 30 yards away.

Childs was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:36 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The van was described as dark in color. Police said they are looking for more than one person in the slaying — a driver and passenger.

Vaughn Mitchell Edwards, a 27-year-old black male, died Thursday, June 23, after being shot in Lomita, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Dennis Joseph Cauterucci, a 60-year-old white man, was found dead Wednesday, June 22 in the 1800 block of South Cochran Avenue in Mid-City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 9:30 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division responded to a welfare check and found Cauterucci in a room in his condo with stab wounds, said LAPD Lt. John Radtke.

Coroner’s officials said that Cauterucci was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:13 p.m.

Radtke said that neighbors were concerned after they hadn’t seen Cauterucci walking his dog, so they called police.  So far, police believe some sort of dispute occurred.

“People in the area did hear arguing,” Radtke said.

Gustavo Alejandro Chamorro, a 46-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, June 22, in the 4000 block of Trinity Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 6 p.m., Chamorro was in the backyard of a home dividing bundles of used clothes to sell with about three others when he got into an argument with another man, LAPD Det. Julio Benavides said.

The man went inside the home, grabbed a .22-caliber rifle and shot Chamorro, Benavides said.

The gunman was identified by police as Gilbert Anthony Rodriguez, a 26-year-old Latino.

Rodriguez and Chamorro were involved in an ongoing dispute over the used clothing sales, Benavides said.

Rodriguez fled the scene shirtless after the incident and was taken into custody about a block and a half away, Benavides said.

Rodriguez has been charged with one count of murder with a weapons allegation, according to the Los Angeles …
