Lemuel Andres Goode, a 54-year-old black male, died Wednesday, May 21, after being shot in Chesterfield Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

David Jerome Scott, a 31-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, May 21, in the 1100 block of East Bennett Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim about 10:30 p.m. and found Scott and a 44-year-old man in the front yard of a home with gunshot wounds, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses told deputies that a light-colored sedan drove by and a person inside shot at the men.

Scott was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:13 p.m.

Candice Barcenas, a 26-year-old black woman, died Tuesday, May 20, after she was shot in the 200 block of North Spring Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on May 19, a 20-year-old man was riding his bike in the area and a gunman began shooting at him, said Lt. Dave Coleman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Barcenas heard the gunfire at a nearby home and walked up to a screen door to watch when she was struck by a stray round, Coleman said. 

A 32-year-old man standing in the carport area was also struck. The 20-year-old man on the bike -- the intended target -- was not injured.

Barcenas was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m. on May 20. The 32-year-old man was also taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released. …

Sophia Elizabeth Coronado, a 2-year-old Latina, was fatally stabbed Tuesday, May 20 in the 1000 block of West 223rd Street in West Carson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 5:20 p.m., Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home by the child’s grandmother. Inside a bedroom and on a bed, deputies discovered the bloodied bodies of the 2-year-old and her two sisters, Yazmine, 1, and Xenia, 2 months, said Lt. Dave Coleman of the Sheriff’s Department. The children were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their mother, 30-year-old, Carol Coronado, a white woman, was beside the bed, barely clothed with self-inflicted wounds.  There was evidence of stab wounds on the children and ultimately, the coroner determined that the children died from sharp force trauma.

April Denise Jace, a 40-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Monday, May 19, in the 5400 block of Brynhurst Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Police responded to the home about 8:30 p.m. and found Jace shot to death, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sal LaBarbera. Jace and the couple’s two sons -- both under 10 years old -- had arrived home from baseball practice shortly before the shooting.

There was no history of police calls to the home, and neighbors said they weren’t aware of any domestic issues, LaBarbera said.

Law enforcement sources said that Jace’s husband, Michael, 51, confessed to the shooting and was standing in the doorway when police arrived. He was arrested on suspicion of murder. The children are with other family members.

Danny Christian Molina, a 34-year-old Latino, died Sunday, May 18, after he was shot by a Los Angeles police officer near Stagg Street and Troost Avenue in Sun Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Foothill patrol officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon about 11:45 p.m. on May 17 in the 11600 block of Stagg Street, according to a department news release.

When the officers arrived, they observed a man, later identified as Danny Christian Molina, standing in the street "throwing rocks and small boulders at civilians and police vehicles," according to the release.

Molina ignored commands from police and pulled out two large kitchen knives with one in each hand.

“Molina continued being non-responsive to officer’s commands and began to move toward the officers,” according to the statement. “As Molina continued to advance  towards the officer, an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

Alex Gines, a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, May 17, in the 900 block of South Kern Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Gines was walking along Kern Avenue when he was shot by a gunman. Investigators do know whether the gunman fled on foot or in a car and do not have a description of the person.

About 1:30 a.m. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies received a call reporting gunshots and screaming, according to a news release from the department.

Deputies arrived to find Gines suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:23 a.m., said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.

Martin Alfonso Lopez, a 40-year-old Latino male, died Saturday, May 17, after being shot in Sun Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deborah Ann Treptor, a 35-year-old white woman, was fatally stabbed Thursday, May 15, in the 1400 block of East 109th Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 1 a.m., Treptor was found with multiple stab wounds by a fellow resident of the transitional housing center where she lived, said Los Angeles police Det. Sal LaBarbera.

Treptor was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:22 a.m., said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman.

Treptor was in an ongoing dispute with her boyfriend, Mark Anthony Little, a 50-year-old black male.

Little had moved out of the home two weeks ago because the two were having relationship problems.

That night, Little allegedly went to the home, asked for her, then went into her room and stabbed her multiple times, LaBarbera said.

Little was arrested on suspicion of murder the same day.
