Brandon Wesley Deuitt, a 25-year-old white man, was shot and killed Wednesday, May 14, in the 37000 block of 29th Street East in Palmdale, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Deputies responded about 2:49 p.m. to a call of a shooting at a home, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators said that two men – Deuitt and his grandfather, 74-year-old Crawford Eugene Deuitt – were arguing at the home. The fight escalated to a shoving match after the elder Deuitt’s wife intervened.
Crawford Deuitt then walked into another area of the home, got a handgun, came back, shot his grandson and then turned the gun on himself.
Brandon Deuitt was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:08 p.m., said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman. Crawford Deuitt also died.

A 25-year-old woman was sentenced Tuesday to 50 years to life in state prison for killing a teenager by shooting him more than 20 times in a Wilmington alley, authorities said.
On Jan. 29 after a five-day trial, a jury convicted Misty Marie Magallon, a 25-year-old Latina, of first-degree murder with an allegation that she intentionally discharged a firearm causing death, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Rebecca Brownstone. The jury deliberated a little longer than three hours.
About 3 p.m. on Nov. 20, 2011, Magallon walked up to Richard Rodriguez, 17, in an alley in the 1000 block of North Ronan Avenue in Wilmington and shot him more than 20 times.

James Renee White Jr., a 21-year-old black man, was killed in an officer-involved shooting Monday, May 12, at 100 Universal City Plaza in Universal City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:15 a.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division responded to a call of a large unruly group at Universal City Walk, according to a news release from the department.
When officers arrived, they saw a large crowd. While attempting to determine what was going on, gunshots rang out in the crowd, which was near a packed nightclub.
Officers, while taking cover, saw White armed with a weapon, and according to the news release “an officer involved shooting occurred.”
Cell phone videos of the incident show a crowd outside the bar and a fire alarm blaring before two gunshots are heard. At that point, people run for cover.

Joseph Richard Flores, an 18-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, May 11, near Ceylon Avenue and Claymore Street in Pico Rivera, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim about 12:35 a.m. and found Flores wounded in the street near a gutter, said Lt. Dave Coleman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Due to the nature of the wounds, Coleman said that the shooter likely fired at close range.

Jacoby Revel Plummer, a 26-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, May 10, in the 300 block of East 116th Street in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Plummer had parked his car in front of his home and was walking inside about 12:15 a.m. when a light-colored sedan drove by and a person in the passenger seat began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sal LaBarbera.
Plummer ran to the back of the driveway where he collapsed between a parked vehicle and a fence, LaBarbera said.
Plummer was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m. at the scene, said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman.

Calvin Williams, a 38-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, May 10, in the 900 block of East 120th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Williams was standing in an alley shortly before 12:30 a.m. visiting with a friend when a black man walked up and shot at him multiple times, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sal LaBarbera.
Williams ran about 12 feet and collapsed between two parked cars, LaBarbera said. Williams was pronounced dead at 12:40 a.m. at the scene, said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman.

Katrina Rene Harris, a 28-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Saturday, May 10, in the 19700 block of South Enslow Drive in Carson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Harris was at a family gathering at a home about 10:30 p.m. when a fight broke out in the street in front, said Lt. Dave Coleman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
People had gathered to watch the fight when a black man pulled out a gun and began firing at the crowd, striking Harris and a 25-year-old black man.
“It’s our understanding she was just a bystander,” Coleman said.
Harris was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The 25-year-old man who was shot is expected to survive.

Richard Armando Mationg, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, May 10, in the 5800 block of Ben Alder Avenue in Whittier, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 9 p.m., Whittier police responded to a report of gunshots and found Mationg in the frontyard of his home with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to a news release from the Whittier Police Department.
A man was seen leaving the scene in a silver vehicle.
Mationg was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:47 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Hours later, Augustin Garcia, a 27-year-old Latino, turned himself in to police in connection with the shooting, said Brad White, the community relations officer.

Manuela Padilla, a 52-year-old Latina, was found dead Friday, May 9, in the 2100 block of Ramsey Way in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Police were called to the home shortly before midnight on May 8 and found Padilla, along with her daughter, Maryann, 23, and her 17-year-old son, Juan, shot to death.
The 28-year-old gunman, whom police have not identified, was dating Maryann Padilla. He was found dead at her feet.
Maryann Padilla had planned to break up with the man the night of the shootings. He was living with the family, but Maryann’s mother wanted him to move out because he was jobless, didn’t go to school and was becoming a burden.
“I know my mom wanted him out,” said April Mejia, 30, Manuela’s daughter. “She got fed up – asked him to leave.”
