Danielle Hagbery, a 22-year-old white woman, died of gunshot wounds Sunday, Jan. 10, in the 300 block of 2nd Street in Manhattan Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Hagbery was killed at her apartment in a murder-suicide incident. Winter identified her killer as Michael Garrett Nolin, a 24-year-old white man, with whom she was living.
Winter said Hagbery and Nolin may have had a business relationship. Winter said neighbors heard gunshots the evening of Jan. 9, but nobody called the police.
After Danielle Hagbery failed to go to work at the Cheesecake Factory on Friday and Saturday, her boss alerted the police. Hagbery and Nolin were found dead at 11:44 a.m. Sunday -- Hagbery with two gunshot wounds to the head and Nolin with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Winter said.

Grecia Del Real, a 21-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Saturday, Jan. 9, in the 3300 block of East Olympic Boulevard in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Del Real was sitting in her car in a parking lot Jan. 8 when someone drove by and opened fire.

Del Real was shot in the head and taken to a hospital, where she died the next day at 5:02 a.m.

Jesus Cruz-Gonsalez, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Jan. 9, in the 1400 block of North Chestnut Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Cruz-Gonsalez was the victim of a drive-by shooting and died at the scene at 3:37 a.m.
Long Beach police, who were called to the scene on a report that shots had been fired, discovered Cruz-Gonsalez lying on the ground with "multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body," according to a news release.

Felix Sandoval, a 7-year-old Latino, was stabbed and died Friday, Jan. 8, in the 500 block of East Pleasant Street in Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police officers were called to an apartment complex where he lived about 9 p.m. Friday after reports of a woman screaming, according to a statement released by the department.
In the stairwell for the complex, officers found a 27-year-old woman with stab wounds. She pointed to a man standing in the doorway of an apartment and told officers he was killing her children, police said. After the suspect closed and locked the door, officers forced their way into the residence, where they found the boy, who had been stabbed numerous times.
He was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where he died an hour later, Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the L.A. County coroner’s office said.

Jessie Valencia, a 6-year-old Latino boy, was fatally shot Friday, Jan. 8, in the 400 block of South Azusa Avenue in Azusa, according to authorities.
Two men have been charged with Jessie's murder. Richard Paul Joseph Gomez, a 21-year-old Latino, of Azusa, and Mathew Steven Loza, a 20-year-old Latino, of West Covina, were each charged with one count of murder, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office said.
Gomez also was charged with being an accessory after the fact for allegedly trying to hide Loza so he would not be arrested, according to a complaint filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The complaint alleges that Loza used a .30-30 rifle to commit the crime. Valencia was playing with a remote-control car in his driveway when he was shot Friday afternoon, police said.

Charles Cheatham, a 31-year-old black man, was fatally shot Thursday, Jan. 7, at Slater Avenue and 110th Street in Watts, authorities said.
Los Angeles Police Det. Gerry Pantoja said Cheatham was walking down the sidewalk about 7:30 a.m. when at least one person approached him and shot him several times in the upper body.
Pantoja said Cheatham was walking either to or from a local store at the time of the shooting. Because the shooting happened relatively early in the morning detectives said they have not found any witnesses.
Police have no suspects in the killing, but Pantoja said they believed it was likely gang-related because several local factions of the Blood gang have been exchanging gunfire in the area.
"That area has always been pretty tumultuous," he said.

Jesus Cruz, identified by the coroner as a 36-year-old white man, was assaulted and died Wednesday, Jan. 6, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Cruz was attacked Jan. 1 in the 1000 block of North Western Avenue in East Hollywood, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
He was knocked to the ground and struck his head on the concrete, causing a blunt force injury, Winter said.
Cruz was taken to the hospital where he died at 4:15 p.m.

Philip Chau, a 21-year-old Asian man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Jan. 6, in the 2600 block of Earle Avenue in Rosemead, authorities said.
Chau was shot about 12:03 a.m. in what Sheriff's officials are calling a possible murder-suicide. He was found with an unidentified Asian woman in her twenties who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff's officials said the two were dating, and KTLA News is reporting the two had been on a ski trip earlier in the day.

Hideko Oyama, a 74-year-old Asian woman, was stabbed several times and died Tuesday, Jan. 5, in the 400 block of East 4th Street in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
Oyama was a manager at the Chetwood Hotel, where she was found dead, police said.
Jian Hong Li, a 39-year-old Chinese national who lived in the Chetwood Hotel, was taken into custody Tuesday on suspicion of murder. He is being held in jail in lieu of $1 million bond, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Investigators said the motive for the stabbing was robbery. Li, who had abandoned his room the day of the murder, became a person of interest for investigators.

Julio Olivares, a 34-year-old Latino, died Monday, Jan. 4, of injuries suffered in a shooting on July 9, 2009, in the 900 block of East 85th Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Olivares had been a patient at a hospital since the shooting.
Olivares died at 9:50 p.m. Jan. 4. Winter said the cause of death was deferred.

Kristian Rodriguez, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Jan. 4, in the 900 block of North Serrano Avenue in East Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Rodriguez was walking on the sidewalk when the shooter rode by him on a bicycle and opened fire.

He was shot about 4 p.m. and taken to a hospital where he died at 4:44 p.m., Winter said.

Diamond Johnson, a 27-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Jan. 3, in the 1100 block of East 33rd Street in Historic South Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Johnson was sitting on his front porch when someone walked up to him and shot him in the head, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office. Johnson was shot about 1:35 p.m. and taken to a hospital where he died at 2:14 p.m.

Bennett Bradley, a 60-year-old black man, was stabbed and died Saturday, Jan. 2, in the 100 block of South New Hampshire Avenue in Koreatown, authorities said.
Bradley's body was found about 5:50 p.m. in his apartment, police said. Detectives believe robbery is a possible motive for the crime but do not have a suspect, according to an LAPD news release.
According to coroner's records, Bradley's cause of death was a deep slash to the neck, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:01 p.m.

Luis Gomez, a 39-year-old Latino, died Sunday, Jan. 2, two days after he was shot in the 1600 block of North Mona Boulevard in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Gomez was sitting in his car when he was shot shortly after 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2009. Winter said his assailant pulled up in a vehicle, got out and shot him once in the head, then fled.
Gomez was taken to the hospital where he died at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, Winter said.
