James Monroe Ratliff Jr., 34

James Monroe Ratliff Jr., a 34-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Sept. 7, in the 400 block of West Fifth Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.  

Long Beach Police officers were called to the scene about 9:51 p.m. regarding a shooting, according to a department news release. 

When officers arrived, they found Ratliff lying in the driveway of a residence with a gunshot wound to his torso, according to coroner's records.

Ratliff was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:54 p.m., according to coroner's records. 

Long Beach investigators said they have no suspects in the case, and no motive for the shooting.
