Reginald Mcdaniel, 28

Reginald McDaniel, a 28-year-old black man, was fatally shot Sunday, Aug. 28, near 105th and Grape streets in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Just after midnight, authorities in the area discovered McDaniel slumped in the driver’s seat of a car that had slammed into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coroner's records show McDaniel was shot in the head and back.

Two passengers who had been in the car and had run away were questioned and released, officials said. McDaniel is believed to have been shot by someone standing on the sidewalk.

Officials said the incident is believed to be gang-related.
